RIVER VALLEY LAWNSCAPE of Red Wing is now hiring a lead laborer to work in our Lawnscape department. This is full time, seasonal position with the opportunity for year-round work supporting snow removal, plowing etc.

Summary:

This position performs semi-skilled work in the lawn-scape department which includes the operation of gas-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in trimming and landscaping. In addition, this position will also perform maintenance on equipment and tools, and makes minor reports (within demonstrated capability) as directed. 

Qualifications:

Skill and Experience: 

• Minimum one year of experience in lawn scaping is required, where the knowledge of using equipment has been gained.
• Proper operation and maintenance of grounds tools, equipment and machinery.
• Ability to identify and eradicate disease or insect damage to turf materials is preferred.
• Can work independently and as part of a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Self-starter who can manage time effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Requires full range of motion in order to operate equipment
• Ability to work in all-weather elements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs regular lawn-scape maintenance by mowing lawns with riding or push mowers; trimming and edging around trees, sidewalks, shrubs, etc.
• Performs tasks common to care of lawns by seeding, fertilizing, and mowing.
• Assists with snow removal and installing winter equipment to assist in spreading sand and salt.
• Safely operates light vehicles and portable power tools and equipment such as trimmers, sprayers and snow/leaf blowers.
• Load and unload lawn care tools into/from work trucks
• Drive work trucks to/from job sites

Compensation:

Summer work: $20 - $25 per hour/wage is dependent on experience level.

Winter work: $30 per hour

Schedule:

Summer Schedule is: 4, 10 hour days (Monday-Thursdays) weather permitting. 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Hours may vary based on business needs. 

Winter Schedule is: On-Call; weather dependent
