CASHIER / RECEPTIONIST
General Statement of Duties
Responsible for managing the daily operations of River Road Park and Recreation District’s aquatic/fitness center admissions. Provides general customer service to guests using the facility. Will occasionally work as needed at the business office in the capacity of cashier/receptionist. Priority given to those that have weekend availability.
Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor, and/or the Building Supervisor. Performance reviewed by Aquatic Supervisor.
Exposure Classification
Work is performed at the front desk of the aquatics facility. Work environment may expose an individual to dust, noise, heat, and humidity. May be exposed to a stressful emergency situation or a difficult guest.
Areas of Responsibility
Public Relations:
Greets the public. Answers multi-line telephone. Performs all areas of computerized registration, massage reservations, and phone-in registration. Issues locker keys as needed. Provides internal and external customer service. Deal effectively with difficult situations and complaints.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with guests and staff in a professional, polite manner. Good knowledge of general office practices and procedures; phone etiquette; basic business math, spelling, proofreading, English and grammar.Deal effectively with frequent interruptions; perform work accurately with attention to detail. Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written directions, to learn assigned tasks readily, adhere to prescribed routines, and work independently in accordance with established park policy. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft word and excel. Ability to learn additional computer programs as needed.
Cash Handling:
Skill in handling money and making change. Reconciles daily and/or shift financial transactions.
Other:
May assist in rescues and first aid in compliance with District guidelines. Maintains accurate attendance records. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications
Basic math and grammatical skills required. Experience working in customer service or related area preferred.
