The Medication TECH is responsible for coordinatingresident care to medications by working with all departments, the medicalcommunity, families and administrative staff to provide for resident needs withcontinuity and an adherence to the scope of practice and licensure for thecommunity. Provides complete supervisionand provision of care related to medication in the community.

• Resident charts. Keeping documentation current(community forms, licensing documentation, physician orders, incident reports,etc)
• Communicate resident status changes.
• Administers medication and treatment whenrequired.
• Follow policies and procedures for medicationadministration.
• Document in MAR (medication administrationrecord) according to policy complies with state and federal regulation regardingmedication administration.
• Fax medication orders to the pharmacy, asneeded.
• Ensure all medication documentation is currentand correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, changeof dosages, written orders to confirm telephone orders, ect.
• Ensure medication room is completely stockedwith all required continuous, PRN, Over-the-Counter (OTC), and othermedications as ordered by the physician.
• Coordinate medication orders and deliveries withpharmacies.
• Communicate with physicians and other healthcareproviders as needed.
• Monitor Psychotropic med use is congruent withphysician orders and ensuring resident behaviors actually warrant the use ofmedication.
• Control medication room access and keyassignment.
• Pour, pass, and assist with administration ofmedications in accordance with state regulations.
• Coordinate physician and other medicalappointments.
• Read all communication note regarding thecommunity between the Caregiver shifts.
• Attend In Service and Staff Meetings, asscheduled.
• Other duties as assigned.
