River Edge is actively searching for a Full-time Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program. In this role, you will be integral to providing substance abuse counseling services within the ACT Program Location/Schedule: Baldwin County site; Mon- Fri 8:30a to 5:00p with 1-2 nights and 1-2 weekends on call.Benefits Offered:Competitive PayMedical, Dental, Vision InsurancePaid Time Off12 Paid Holidays401k with an employer matchFlexible Spending AccountsShort and Long-term disability coverageLife InsuranceEmployee Discount ProgramDuties & Responsibilities:Provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention. Assists in dealing with personal and social problems. May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services. May perform case management duties, and group skills training with adolescents.Provide assessment/evaluation as it pertains to substance use disorder(s) and co-occurring needs.Provide individual counseling, group/family counseling/training to clients seeking treatment for substance use disorders.Complete insurance authorization documentation as required to ensure all services are authorized.Document all services the same day the service(s) were provided.Adhere to all federal, state, and regulatory ethical/legal guidelines as a substance abuse counselor.Minimum Training & Experience:High School Diploma/ GED equivalentMUST have a CACII certification.Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a social service related field (social work, sociology, psychology, etc.). At least one (1) year of experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment.Demonstrate knowledge and expertise with the chronically mentally ill population.All applicants must pass an intensive background check and pre-employment drug test.Demonstrate expertise and knowledge in mental health and substance abuse services and community resources. Exemplify excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
