River City Company is Hiring a Remote Venue Administrator

The Venue Administrator of the Waterhouse Pavilion at Miller Plaza (venue) is the direct contact for those inquiring about renting the venue space. This individual’s responsibilities will include creating an environment that feels inclusive and supporting the client(s) through the rental process from the first inquiry until post-event follow-up details.

The ideal candidate is extremely organized, eager, willing to learn quickly, has sales experience, the ability to work independently, and is an excellent communicator.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

  • In collaboration with the Facilities Manager, help to maintain the professional appearance and cleanliness of the venue and all spaces accessible during the contracted rental, and support vendors or staff
  • Be responsible for acting as the point of contact for private events held onsite, with weekday and weekend availability
  • Serve as the backup day-of-event-coordinator when other coordinators are not available and be on-site, and on-call during the event(s)
  • Provide direct timely contact with those inquiring about renting the venue
  • Provide tours, and create contracts for clients interested in renting the venue
  • Invoice and collect payments from rental clientele
  • Assist with venue layouts for event set up and provide general event support during the planning process
  • Correspond with event vendors and planners as needed
  • Schedule contractors for venue coordination, cleaning, and security as necessary
  • Assist the VP of Marketing and Communications with creating a marketing plan for the venue as well as providing content photos and copy social accounts
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous sales and customer service experience
  • Previous experience with venue or event management is preferred
  • Competent computer skills and ability to work in multiple software and web-based databases
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, flexible, adaptable, and resourceful
  • A proactive problem solver who is energetic and collaborative
  • Strong desire to work hard in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high-energy and mission-driven colleagues
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills along with the ability to effectively interface with senior management, staff, RCC partners, and the community
  • Passion for RCC’s mission, the Downtown Chattanooga community, and for creating a Downtown for all Chattanoogans

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The typical environment is a community venue and plaza with weekday public hours of 9:00 am until 3 pm. This role’s typical hours would vary each week depending on scheduled events, tours, and the volume of inquiries. Most hours can be worked remotely but must be present for tours, technology checks, or as needed for venue support.
  • There are occasions when to perform your job, you may have to work in small spaces, high temperatures, and other weather conditions, or be exposed to loud noises and strong smells
  • There are occasions when to perform your job, you may be asked to be mobile or standing for multiple hours, bend, reach, and stretch, or be asked to lift up to 50lbs

Part-time, hybrid position averaging 10-20 hours per week with competitive pay, commission opportunities, and the potential for future growth within River City Company. This position reports to the Director of Operations and Special Projects.
