ABOUT US

Located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, we are a 13-person firm, working out of our own LEED-certified building that we designed and constructed in 2008. Our office is tucked into a wooded area alongside the wetlands and a walking/biking path that leads to the Mississippi River and downtown La Crosse and serves as a prime example of our design sensibility. Founded in 1981 by Val Schute, the architectural firm has evolved into a thriving practice with six studios, two partners and many long-time clients. Our foundation is collaborating with clients, and we believe “joint authorship leads to joint ownership.”

We offer a generous benefits package that includes PTO, paid holidays, health, dental, disability and life insurance, a 401K retirement plan with company match, discounted YMCA membership, Employee Assistance Program, continuing education opportunities and professional development, as well as paid community involvement and volunteer initiatives.

ABOUT THE AREA

We are located in a beautifully scenic area of western Wisconsin, surrounded by the Mississippi River, rolling hills and tree-covered bluffs. Known as the Driftless Area, which is topography characterized by steep, forested ridges, and deeply carved river valleys, we enjoy all the activities that come with living along a major river and sculpted bluffs. Outdoor enthusiasts love the area for cycling, fishing, boating, skiing and hiking. We are lucky to experience all four seasons, and we celebrate during each one of those seasons with festivals, art events, concerts and our famous Oktoberfest every fall. With a population of a little more than 100,000 people in La Crosse and the surrounding areas, we are small enough to offer an affordable lifestyle with easy commutes, but large enough to offer top notch healthcare options, a vibrant downtown along the river, and plenty of retail shopping and housing. La Crosse also boasts a robust higher education community, with the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, Viterbo University and Western Technical College campuses all located within the city limits.
