RMC is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist for a hybrid role in the Honolulu, HI Area.

Cybersecurity Specialist

Position Summary

Cybersecurity Specialist specializing in Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Windows Server, Network, and Systems Administration, you will be at the forefront of protecting the Department of Defense (DoD)’s operational technology (OT) environment and ensuring the integrity and availability of DoD OT and Information Technology (IT) systems. The position will be located at MCB Hawaii.

Essential Functions

1. Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security:

    • Assess, design, and implement security solutions for ICS environments, including SCADA systems, PLCs, and related infrastructure.
    • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing for ICS systems.
    • Monitor ICS-specific security incidents and develop strategies for mitigation

2. Windows Server Administration:

    • Administer and maintain Windows server infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
    • Implement server hardening, patch management, and system optimization.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues promptly.

3. Network Security:

    • Configure, manage, and maintain a secure network infrastructure.
    • Implement firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other network security measures.
    • Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies.

4. Systems Administration:

    • Manage and maintain servers, workstations, and other IT systems.
    • Ensure timely patching, updates, and system configuration management for security and performance.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshoot system issues.

5. Security Policy and Compliance:

    • Develop, enforce, and update cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, CIS).
    • Conduct cybersecurity training and awareness programs for staff.

6. Risk Management Framework (RMF):

    • Coordinate with customers and sub-contractors to ensure clear understanding of the RMF requirements and timelines.
    • Assist clients to successfully navigate the RMF process and obtain an Authority-To-Operate (ATO).

Competencies 

  • Extensive experience in ICS security, Windows server administration, network administration, and systems administration 
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with ICS protocols and SCADA systems
  • Proficiency in network security tools and technologies
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field:
    • Master's degree preferred
  • 3-7 years’ experience:
    • Experience can be substituted for a degree.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security - Obtained within 6 to 9 months upon hire date.

Desired Skills/Qualifications

  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, CASP).

Additional Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Obtaining a DoD Secret Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for clearance level required for the job
    • Valid Passport: Possession of a current passport with a minimum of 8 months remaining until the expiration date.
    • Travel Flexibility: Willingness and capability to travel, CONUS approximately 10-25% of the time.
      • Telecommunication is authorized for this role.
    • Work Environment Compliance: Commitment to maintaining a drug-free work environment, U.S. Citizenship, and possession of a valid state driver's license.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience with US Department of Defense (DoD)
