Rise University Preparatory is an independent 9th-12th grade Christian school with a diverse community of students committed to educational excellence, equity and reconciliation.

80% of our scholars are either low-income, first generation to college, or Bayview residents. As a small school with low tuition, Rise Prep makes accessible an academically rigorous education in a loving, college-bound environment. We teach whole students so they can grow in maturity of mind and heart—to reason, create, serve and lead.

Our goal is for 100% of our scholars to get accepted into a four year university. Rise Prep’s model is built on combining the power of a top-notch education with a committed long-term community to facilitate bright futures for each of our scholars and break long-held cycles of systemic injustice. Who You Are

Math and Science Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Salary based on years of experience, credential level, etc. Under the supervision of the Head of School, the Math/Science Teacher provides a strong academic foundation for the development of the student’s full flourishing to honor God and one another; to grow in knowledge, skill, and virtue to reason, create, serve and lead in this world. Math/Science Teacher plans, organizes and teaches an instructional program in a safe and positive learning environment that guides students to develop content knowledge and character in the following classes or subset of classes if part-time is desired:

• Algebra I or Algebra II
• Biology
• AP Biology
• Other science
• Student support for success in the above courses

What You’ll Do

• Develops and maps out the course curriculum according to state standards; submits to academic dean for approval
• Prepares and delivers instructional lesson plans and activities that facilitate learning in support of approved curriculum
• Identifies and provides different instructional resources and methods and relevant technology that meet students' varying needs and that recognize their diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and unique abilities
• Observes, encourages and evaluates students’ performance and progress; Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests and assignments in a timely manner
• Maintains accurate and complete records of students' attendance, progress and development
• Regularly identifies students in need, coordinates with students and families to provide extra support to ensure each student’s success
• Maintains order and discipline in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrator including two hours of supervision per week, chaperones at least three field trips, participates in at least six special school events
• Attends and participates in a variety of faculty meetings, committees, and professional development activities

What We’re Looking For

• Be able to support the Apostle’s Creed and teach from biblical worldview
• Must possess the minimum qualification of a Bachelor of Science in a related science field or mathematics field from a recognized accredited college or university
• Possess teaching credential in science or Masters degree in related subject or extensive experience and knowledge
• Experience with serving students with diverse needs; ability to understand and connect to our school demographics
