About Our Organization

RISE Services is an organization with a wealth of knowledge and experience to help individuals with disabilities obtain and maintain competitive employment.

Job Purpose

A job coach works in a supported employment program to assist people with disabilities obtain and maintain their job. Individual supported employment is training and support in a competitive job where persons without disabilities are employed.

In addition to working on skills related to performing specific job tasks, a job coach also helps with interpersonal skills necessary in the workplace. The job coach will assess the worker’s strengths and needs or may rely on an already completed assessment.

Usually, a job coach will work with an individual both in and outside of the workplace. Before entering a place of employment, many individuals with disabilities can benefit from specific training to help them learn what to expect in the work environment. In this case, the job coach may visit the place of employment to understand the requirements of the job and work environment. The job coach will then work with the individual with disabilities to prepare. The job coach may also accompany the individual to the worksite. This allows the job coach to directly observe the abilities of the employee and any areas needing improvement. The employee is able to receive immediate feedback and assistance.

While the benefits of a job coach to an individual with disabilities are evident, job coaches also benefit employers. By helping to support employees with disabilities, job coaches free up personnel time which would otherwise be needed for training and hopefully improves the experience for all involved.

A culture of philanthropy is where each person in the organization serves as an ambassador by promoting the organization’s mission and vision. The Job Coach is an ambassador for the agency through his/her cultivation efforts in the community working with various clients, families, community leaders, other agencies and foundations.

SHIFTS:

We have multiple shifts available (both part-time and full-time) and are looking to fill a Thursday and Friday shift ASAP.

All RISE Services’ employees have the following responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships based on trust, mutual respect, humility, equity, and partnership
  • Actively inspire, engage, and provide support to RISE Services’ Programs
  • Actively support the organization’s growth and development goals

Essential Duties

· Prepare and maintain records and case files, including documentation such as clients' personal and eligibility information, services provided, narratives of client contacts, or relevant correspondence.

· Monitor and record clients' progress to ensure that goals and objectives are met. Write reports as needed.

· Confer with clients to discuss their options and goals so that rehabilitation programs and plans for accessing needed services can be developed.

· Maintain close contact with clients during job training and placements to resolve problems and evaluate placement adequacy.

· Address employer concerns about hiring people with disabilities while maintaining the confidentiality of the job seekers.

· Analyze information from interviews, educational and medical records, consultation with other professionals, and diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' abilities, needs, and eligibility for services.

· Identify a wide variety of workplace supports.

· Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, such as schools or community groups.

· Locate barriers to client employment, such as inaccessible work sites, inflexible schedules, or transportation problems, and work with clients to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers.

· Identify the individual's interests in order to facilitate a job/career of choice.

· Collaborate with clients' families, support teams, and stakeholders to implement plans of support or individual service plans

· Arrange for on-site job coaching or assistive devices, such as specially equipped wheelchairs, to help clients adapt to work or school environments.

· Uses data collection techniques to document effectiveness of workplace supports and to guide fading from the job site.

· Cultivate and maintain appropriate networking sources with the community.

· Assist clients with application process and interviews, and coordinate arrangements for job interviews.

· Monitor and evaluate client work performance, collect skill acquisition and production data, obtain feedback from client, employer, and co-workers, and provide additional training or intervention as needed.

· Assess client skills and abilities and requirements of specific employment situations for the purpose of job/client matching.

· Provide on-going assessment and follow-along services as required.

· Participate in the process of achieving and maintaining CARF accreditation;

· Other duties as assigned.
