Rise Academy is the East End’s own fully-accredited, private, Christian high school. Rise Academy is part of Rise Richmond, a nonprofit serving students and families in Richmond’s East End. Together with families, neighbors, and community partners, Rise Richmond is creating a world where students have access to excellent, equitable learning opportunities. Through Rise After School, Rise Academy, and Rise Labs, we offer supportive spaces where students can rise to new opportunities, pursue goals that once seemed out of reach, and exceed their expectations.
Math Teacher is a professional position that is part of the Rise Academy teaching team. The incumbent will provide dynamic classroom leadership and instruction, teach a variety of core high school Math courses and electives, and maintain a well-managed classroom. We seek a dynamic Math instructor with strong content knowledge of Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus who teaches in engaging ways. This position requires an awareness of the urban student’s context and a resolve to teach in culturally competent ways, and in small classroom settings. Rise Academy is committed to trauma-informed care; we seek instructors who view their students as whole people. Full-time instructors will be asked to teach three sections of a course in their field per semester as well as various assigned duties as needed, with a daily planning period of 80 minutes every school day. The Math Teacher reports to the School Principal and supervises no staff.
