Position Summary:

The Accounting Intern is responsible for supporting the Accounting team and assisting with research and

various aspects of reconciliations and maintenance of accounting systems. We are looking for an

individual who is curious, eager to learn, exited to contribute and take initiative, and help add value to

the team. Throughout their internship, the Accounting Intern will have an opportunity to shadow

internal and external meetings to gain an awareness of investment and internal decision protocols

related to reporting and investing for our various funds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in reconciling cash, investment holdings, and par amounts between Octagon and administrator records
• Shadow internal and external meetings and presentations to gain an awareness of investment and decision protocols related to reporting and investing for our various funds
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders to provide data for pitch books, investor requests, and due diligence questionnaires
• Maintain current accounting system with various data points such as Moody’s, S&P, Fitch ratings, spreads, etc.
• Help support the preparation and updating of investment projection tracking models
• Help maintain internal databases of investments
• Support the development of technology-based solutions designed to improve internal record keeping, monitoring, and reporting capabilities
• Proactively take on ad hoc projects and provide support for new business initiatives, as needed

Areas of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Qualifications:

• In the process of completing a Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework in Accounting and Finance preferred
• Highly motivated, proactive team player with a positive attitude
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and exemplary attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task, be proactive, work independently, and work effectively under pressure (often under deadlines and changing priorities)
• Outstanding reputation of professional integrity and maturity
