This role is with Confluent. Confluent uses RippleMatch to find top talent.

Description

Confluent is pioneering a fundamentally new category of data infrastructure focused on data in motion. Have you ever found a new favorite series on Netflix, picked up groceries curbside at Walmart, or paid for something using Square? That’s the power of data in motion in action—giving organizations instant access to the massive amounts of data that is constantly flowing throughout their business. At Confluent, we’re building the foundational platform for this new paradigm of data infrastructure. Our cloud-native offering is designed to be the intelligent connective tissue enabling real-time data, from multiple sources, to constantly stream across the organization. With Confluent, organizations can create a central nervous system to innovate and win in a digital-first world.

We’re looking for self-motivated team members who crave a challenge and feel energized to roll up their sleeves and help realize Confluent’s enormous potential. Chart your own path and take healthy risks as we solve big problems together. We value having diverse teams and want you to grow as we grow—whether you’re just starting out in your career or managing a large team, you’ll be amazed at the magnitude of your impact.

About the Role:

Confluent’s PMM team is defined by two areas: driving Confluent’s GTM (go-to-market) and a relentless focus on the Customer. The PMM team is responsible for driving our GTM (go-to-market) prioritization & strategy, successfully launching new products, and leveraging a holistic understanding of the customer to define and optimize our go-to-market across the entire customer acquisition and adoption lifecycle.

Our Product Marketing team’s mission is to generate customer insights that inform Confluent’s product and go-to-market strategy, lead the go-to-market for our product suite, and craft campaigns to drive growth. Product Marketing is a highly cross-functional role at Confluent, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, Sales, Design, Developer Relations, and the various Marketing channel owners to name a few. Unique from many other Product Marketing teams, our team works across the entire product lifecycle, from helping shape the product roadmap, to driving launches and commercialization, to ensuring GTM alignment with Sales and growing product adoption post-launch. This also includes creating compelling content for both external marketing campaigns, as well as internally to help our sales team demonstrate Confluent’s value proposition to prospective customers.

Confluent is looking for a candidate with a blend of product, strategy, analytics, and marketing/GTM skills. This role will be responsible for high impact strategic projects and mission-critical initiatives, taking a product and customer-oriented lens to help accelerate our growth. As a candidate for this role, you will have a proven track record of product marketing and/or GTM strategy development in high-tech companies, specifically those with B2B and SaaS/Cloud business models.

What You Will Do:

The responsibilities of this role include building go-to-market & campaign strategies that will drive acquisition and adoption across the entire customer lifecycle, and driving cross-functional initiatives with broad organizational impact and strategic implications. This role will be involved in crafting the strategy, defining the end-to-end funnel to unlock and accelerate growth, and building key marketing moments to drive demand gen. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with the drive, initiative, and leadership qualities that influence cross-functional teams.

  • Onboard quickly to learn about Confluent’s products, product-led growth business model, GTM/sales motions, key personas, the data ecosystem, then hit the ground running
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously across all areas of product marketing tailored based on your interests and business needs. Some examples of projects may include:
  • Creating crisp and compelling messaging, assets, enablement, and more for both external consumption and internal use by Confluent’s marketing and sales teams
  • Building and bringing to market a new marketing campaign that helps position the value of Confluent’s products to our target personas
  • Supporting new product launches - creating assets for the launch BOM, project managing various workstreams, gathering sales and customer feedback to influence our product roadmap, and driving post-launch adoption targets
  • Developing the content and talk track for a technical product demo webinar or video that incorporates the key messages of that product or campaign
  • Sourcing and onboarding new Confluent partners and doing joint go-to-market activities
  • Creating materials that demonstrates a use case leveraging Confluent’s product suite
  • Driving competitive analysis and analyzing quarterly win/loss opportunities to identify trends and present to senior leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with demand generation, content marketing, sales, product management, and other teams to build alignment around go-to-market plans
  • Assess the effectiveness of our current product GTM strategies and refine them as necessary, leveraging data to identify and prioritize any product or GTM gaps, influence various stakeholders, and then collaborate with sales, product, and/or marketing to implement
  • Network and have career conversations with other product marketers/leaders, many of whom also have an MBA

What You Will Bring:

  • First-year student currently pursuing a full-time MBA at a top-tier business school
  • Commit to working for 12 weeks (June-August) during Summer 2024
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Computer Science / Engineering / technical undergrad degree a plus
  • Desire to work in B2B software product marketing; previous experience working in tech as a PMM, PM, SE, or management consultant a plus
  • Ability to quickly pick up and understand highly technical concepts relating to our products/market and distill product features into their key value propositions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor the content and style depending on the audiences (i.e. field enablement resource, technical blog for developers, etc.)
  • Demonstrated track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams (i.e. other parts of marketing, product management, and sales) and driving clarity even in ambiguous situations
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and analytical capabilities (Excel required, SQL/R nice-to-have)
  • Comfortable navigating a complex business environment and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic, hyper-growth environment
