RIO GRANDE BIBLE MINISTRIES is Hiring a Maintenance Worker Near Edinburg, TX
Rio Grande Bible College is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Worker/Handyman to join our maintenance team. This role is crucial for ensuring the ongoing maintenance and care of over 50 acres of campus land, including more than 40 student apartments, a couple dozen houses, two dorms, and over 50,000 square feet of academic and radio broadcasting buildings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, HVAC, roofing, and small remodeling projects. Additionally, this role involves supervising and mentoring students assigned to the grounds crew, requiring someone with a heart for working with and guiding students not only in their work assignments but also in their spiritual development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including fixing plumbing issues, working on air conditioning units, repairing roofs, maintaining campus streets, and carrying out small remodeling jobs.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Supervise and train students assigned to the grounds crew, providing them with practical skills and spiritual guidance.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute large-scale maintenance projects and ensure the safety and cleanliness of the campus.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work performed and materials used.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a maintenance worker or handyman, with a broad skill set in plumbing, HVAC, roofing, and general repair tasks.
- Ability to supervise and mentor young people, integrating practical work skills with spiritual guidance.
- Strong commitment to the values and mission of an evangelical Bible college.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment and vehicles.
- Willingness to participate in additional training or certification as required.
- A heart for ministry and serving in a Christian educational environment.
