PROFESSIONAL STAFF APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Job Title: Anticipated Chemistry Teacher - High School

Reports to: Building Principal

Primary Purpose:

To create a flexible secondary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish appropriate, effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for furthering the student's education, in accordance with each student's ability; establish appropriate, effective relationships with parents and other staff members; and to fully implement the curriculum in an effective instructional method.

Qualifications:

  • Chemistry Teaching Certification in 7-12
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Essential Functions:

  • Teaches specified curriculum to students in a classroom using the curriculum adopted by the Board of School Directors and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, district approved curriculum with fidelity, and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, utilizes technology to enhance instruction, and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the lesson plans to the needs of each.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and abides by federal, state, and local school laws and regulations, mandated programs, District policies and administrative regulations. Reviews and abides by Pennsylvania Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a safe and inspiring learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student’s progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve social, emotional, behavioral, and academic issues.
  • Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through a functional and an attractive classroom environment.
  • Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district or through self-selected activities.
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day and on field trips when necessary.
  • Administers group standardized assessments in accordance with district assessment program.
  • Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
  • Maintain a cooperative, enthusiastic, constructive attitude toward teaching and carry out assignments professionally and efficiently using good communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of student performance and progress to ensure continuous student growth and communicate same to students, parents, counselors, and administrators.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom organization, management, discipline at all times, conducive to student safety and supportive of positive student self-esteem.
  • Assist in maintaining student data/ records and support guidance and administration procedures for student placement.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of all student related information or data.
  • Plan, conduct, and supervise students/chaperones on approved field trips, excursions, and educational tours.
  • Submit accurate, legible, and complete information on forms, requisitions, reports, records, surveys in a timely fashion as requested by administration or guidance.
  • Responsible for the safety and welfare of students at all times within the school setting, on school property and on approved outings and/or field trips.
  • Ensures there is proper supervision for students at all times.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the applicable policies of the Ringgold School District and/or Pennsylvania Department of Education.
