Maintenance Technician

Department: Maintenance Position: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Brief Description of Job:
Cleans, services, repairs and maintains internal and external premises in a sanitary, attractive and
orderly condition
Essential Functions:

Maintains mechanical equipment in clean, safe operating condition and on a documented
program.

Use equipment and materials effectively in daily work.
Cuts and trims grass, weeds, trees, shrubs and removes trash, sweeps walks and clean parking

lots.
Shovels snow from sidewalks and uses tractor and truck to clear parking lot.
Moves furniture and other heavy equipment.
Maintains a clean and neat workstation and equipment.
Reports needed repairs to supervisor.
Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
Fills in as may be needed in other parts of the Hospital.
Works assigned shift/shifts, weekends, and holidays, as scheduled.
Is available to be on call at nights to cover when needed.
Is available day or night to pick up drugs uptown or go after blood and blood products when

needed.
Maintains service equipment, such as greasing, oil, changing belts and filters.
Maintains a working knowledge of hospital fire plan, disaster plan, tornado plan and what the

worker's duties are for each plan.
Is knowledgeable of hospital policy and procedures as they relate to the worker's job.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or G. E. D.
Must be able to speak, read and write fluent English.
Possession of valid Iowa driver’s license.
Understands HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient and employee information.
