What You'll Be Doing

As the Transportation Operations Director you will have responsibility for overseeing domestic transportation operations while growing Rinchem's revenue streams and profitability in the line of business. Scope and Responsibilities
  • Achieving superior performance in safety and compliance for all fleet and brokerage activities
  • Owning the complete line of business for domestic transportation, and championing the achievement of financial / operational performance targets
  • Directing managerial oversight for the over-the-road fleets (CGLT & CTL) and brokerage business (GTO), as well as a dotted line level of responsibility for final mile transportation (Rinchem fleet)
  • Developing and driving continuous improvement projects to ensure continued competitiveness of cost in the line of business
  • Assuring the appropriate mix of fleet and brokered over-the-road business to maximize operational results with excellent customer service
  • Responsible for driving change through process enhancements and technology adoption with your team and the broader teams in other lines of business
  • Oversight of billing auditing to ensure accuracy to our internal and external customers
  • Creating innovative solutions to unique customer challenges to continue to solidify Rinchem as the preeminent chemical supply chain solution provider
  • Collaborating across business lines for the optimization of Rinchem's performance, and a superior customer experience
  • Facilitating discussions with customers for quarterly review sessions, complaint resolution and additional business opportunities
  • (In-conjunction with the commercial team), crafting responses to RFP's for business development and growth
  • Building the capability to expand and retract based on market conditions with the minimal amount of financial harm or customer impact
  • Assuring all staff stays compliant in training and other areas as needed
  • Maintaining and leveraging current client relationships and growing professional network
  • Supporting operations and financial leadership on all CSC budgeting requirements as needed to maintain financial expectations
  • Working in conjunction with administrative service centers including Human Resources, Accounting, Quality, IT and Sales to fulfill requirements and meet organizational objectives throughout the company
  • Updating SOP's and Work Instructions
  • Maintaining successors for all positions that fall under your area of responsibility

Qualifications

We are seeking:

Someone who exhibits a servant leadership mindset with strong leadership communications capabilities. Someone who is adept at leading change through strategic thinking based on data and process based decision making with a strong transportation leadership background.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • 5 years of experience in a progressive transportation management setting
  • Experience with hazardous materials and/or pharmaceutical transportation operations

Knowledge of DOT, EPA, OSHA and other applicable federal and state regulations

  • Proven ability to understand financial statements and drive performance improvement

Business development acumen and commercial skills are needed as this role does have customer facing responsibilities

Other Skills and Abilities You Will Need:

  • Ability to learn transportation system(s) of record
  • MS Office suite skills and experience (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with NCR/CAPA system and ability to help determine root cause and make suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Current possession or ability to successfully complete U.S. DOT Motor Carrier Safety Compliance Course within first 30 days of employment
  • Ability to learn and maintain a working knowledge of all regulatory subject matter needed to maintain compliance in transportation activities
  • The ability to engage with others using tact, assertiveness, presence, and self-confidence.
  • Results focused with excellent project and time management skills, willing and able to work to meet given deadlines.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You'll also need to be able to:

  • Travel up to 50% (ABQ based) - 75% (non-ABQ based) of the time with short notice.
  • Travel internationally on occasion
  • Be available for escalation protocols as needed, 7 days a week
  • Read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
  • See both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses)
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device)
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including occasionally arriving early, staying late on a moment's notice and occasional evening and weekend work
