Meal Manufacturing Associate

A fast-growing startup in the Outdoor Recreation industry is operating out of its backcountry food production facility and fulfillment center in Kalispell, MT and is looking to hire talented and dedicated staff for a range of food manufacturing and fulfillment jobs. Our mission is to help make outdoor adventures more accessible to people by offering hearty and wholesome meals to suit a range of tastes and diets while also using packaging materials that do minimal environmental harm. We believe that the quality and convenience of the RightOnTrek meals experience can help to foster a sense of togetherness, while also deepening personal connections with nature.

The meals division of the company produces delicious, healthy, adventure meals that cook fresh on the trail in under 10 minutes and are available in a variety of options and sizes. Our meals are enjoyed by a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts including backpackers, campers, bikepackers, hunters, rangers, and guides. Our products are sold in over 300 stores across the US, as well as directly to thousands of customers via our online store.

Job responsibilities will vary and will include a combination of duties, including:

  • Working at the dry food assembly line, performing manual steps or operating various machines for mixing, filling, sealing and packaging backcountry meals;
  • Manage inventory of supplies and finished goods, including storage, packaging, loading, unloading, stacking, shipping and more;
  • Work in the fulfillment center filling out the orders and shipping product to the customers;
  • Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), safety and sanitation practices are always followed.
  • Performing a wide range of tasks, manual or automated, to prepare, setup, clean, tune, repair or otherwise maintain facilities and machinery;
  • Assist in other duties and functions as needed or requested by the management.

Successful candidates will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A passion for what we do - a passion for the outdoors, and for making great food products to help make wilderness adventures accessible to people.
  • Desire to work in high-energy, fast-paced startup environment and learn new skills every day is critical.
  • At least a high school diploma. Additional professional education is preferred.
  • A great attention to details, safety, and quality work, whether someone is watching or not;
  • Resourceful, result-oriented and multi-functional; always looking for ways to do things better;
  • Ability to safely bend, reach, and lift 50 lbs, ability to stand for long periods and to wear personal protective gear for most of the day, ability to work near loud equipment.
  • Experience in the food industry, general manufacturing or warehousing is preferred but not required.
  • Ability and/or interest in learning how to set up, tune and repair the process equipment is valued.
  • Experience in food safety regulations (cGMP, FSMA, FDA, USDA, etc) is a big plus. Ability and willingness to learn and abide by these regulations is a must.
