Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a caregiver will be based on your training and experience. Some caregivers provide basic companionship and/or homemaker tasks, while other caregivers provide more extensive personal care. The following shows the range of services a caregiver may provide:

  • Companionship activities such as reading, games, music, puzzles

  • Preparing meals and snacks, according to instructions

  • Medication reminders

  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as vacuuming, dusting, changing bed linens,

  • cleaning the bathroom, etc.

  • Accompanying clients on errands or medical appointments

  • Bathing/showering/toileting/dressing

  • Assisting with prescribed active and passive range of motion exercises

  • Special assistance for Alzheimer’s, dementia and Parkinson’s care

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance and registration.

  • Must be able to infrequently lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Must pass a background check

  • CNA license, Home Health Aide or Personal Care Aide certification is preferred.
