Richards Manufacturing Co is Hiring a CNC Operator Near Irvington, NJ

General Description:

Contact point for all shift team members with effective communication skills. Ability, to motivate, be proactive and ensure smooth operations with collaboration in effort to meet the department goals and objectives. Think logically and display technical aptitude to solve problems with creativity, diligence, and achievement. Produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Maintaining equipment, adhering to quality and safety standards, saving, and updating parts programing, are some of the core responsibilities of a CNC operator.

Reports to: Department Manager 

Responsibilities: 

• Programming, program selection, & program editing on CNC multi-axis turning centers.

• Interpret engineering drawings to manufacture parts using CNC machinery

• Ability to make correct tool selection for parts manufacture

• Demonstrate ability to process work orders independently or with minimal instructions.

• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment

• Identify quality, process, machinery, or equipment defects

• Delegate Operator tasks, set clear team performance expectations.

• Oversee day-to-day shift operation, promoting a Safe work environment.

• Improve the quality output of parts and work hands on with the quality department 

• Implement continual training for teammates. 

• Troubleshoot equipment when there is a problem.

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Educational Qualifications (If Applicable):

  • Not required.

Minimum Previous Experience:

  • 7 years working in a manufacturing environment/machine shop
  • Proficiency with heavy machinery including lathe, drill press, grinding wheel, chop saw, and mill.
  • Ability to sequence or edit programs on lathe and CNC.

• Read measuring tape, gauges, and calipers

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 40 lbs.

Minimum Additional Training (If Applicable):

  • Company’s Quality Management System.
  • ISO 9001:2015 awareness. 
  • Other Skills:
  • Hand-eye coordination.
  • Attention to detail.
