Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance authorizations for medical procedures and services. Your role will involve working closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure timely and accurate authorization approvals.

Duties:
- Review and verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients
- Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for medical procedures, treatments, and medications
- Communicate with healthcare providers to gather necessary documentation for authorization requests
- Submit authorization requests to insurance companies and follow up on the status of pending requests
- Maintain accurate records of authorization approvals, denials, and appeals
- Collaborate with billing department to ensure proper coding and billing practices
- Stay updated on insurance policies, guidelines, and industry regulations related to prior authorizations
- Provide excellent customer service to patients by addressing their questions and concerns regarding authorizations

Experience:
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and insurance verification processes
- Familiarity with managed care plans and their prior authorization requirements
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other relevant software applications
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding system is a plus
