Job Summary

**FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS MAY 23RD
The Survey Technician serves as primary support of the County Surveyor in carrying out statutory responsibilities of the office. The position applies extensive knowledge of land surveying standards as they pertain to supporting the County Surveyor. Under supervision, an employee in this class performs difficult technical work associated with land, location, Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and/or geodetic control surveys, and the creation of base maps, plans or reports for County Surveyor review and approval; performs related work as required.
Examples of Duties

  • Assists in reviewing proposed subdivision plats, Common Interest Community (CIC) plats, and Registered Land Surveys (RLS).
  • Performs field and office duties necessary in assisting the County Surveyor in the preservation of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). Applies technologies such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems/Global Positioning Systems (GNSS/GPS), Robotic Total Station, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD), and associated computer software systems.
  • Assists with the development of highway right-of-way plats used for right-of-way acquisition. Assists with preparing and generating parcel sketches, exhibits, legal descriptions, documents, and highway right-of-way plats for various highway projects, assists with land title research and analysis on parcels for right-of-way acquisition, reviews title work and highway right-of-way plats prepared by consultants for right-of-way acquisition.
  • Assists County Surveyor with land surveying services required for the safe operation of the County's solid waste and demolition landfills.
  • Facilitates data requests pertaining to land surveying.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
Qualifications

M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum job requirements include two years of post-secondary education in Land Surveying & Mapping Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field. A minimum of three years of work experience in Land Surveying & Mapping Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
Supplemental Information

HIRING RANGE / UNION: $26.89 - $28.18 Per hour / GU Unit - Grade 9
HOURS: Normal business hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
