As an integral part of the design team at Rice Companies, Project Engineers provide drafting and design support to Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, and other design team members during the planning, design, and construction of local and regional development projects. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with projects by performing design calculations and using engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications as required by the assignment.
• Researches and writes reports/opinions, including due diligence investigations and code studies.
• Conducts studies to identify engineering problems and assesses potential project impacts.
• Coordinates design options with Project Executive and/or Project Manager
• Assists the Project Manager with the permitting of engineering projects.
• Inspects project sites with Project Manager to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards.
• Assists in examination of engineering documents for completeness or accuracy.
• Assists in review of drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects and recommend necessary changes.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or working towards licensure
• Minimum of 3 years of Project Engineering, structural drafting and design support experience.
• Demonstrated experience in Revit Design software
• Ability to analyze project needs and apply knowledge of design, construction practices and standard drafting techniques to create a design
• Basic knowledge of structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards
• Basic understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
• Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
• Able to work unsupervised and achieve work goals.
