Syracuse, Sand and Gravel is seeking a highly motivated Crushing Plant Groundsman for an immediate opening at our Stockbridge location.

We operate more than 400 power units on a daily basis, all with radio dispatch and GPS systems on board. In addition to being the leader in the hauling of bulk commodities we are also one of Upstate New York’s top suppliers of stone and gravel. We offer crushing and material handling services, operate more than 50 sand and gravel mines, manage bulk salt storage stockpiles, provide grain storage and drying services, and manage a rail offloading operation, ready-mix operations as well as asphalt operations.

The Crushing Plant Groundsman is an entry level position. The ideal candidate will perform a pre-inspection of grounds and crushing equipment at the start of each shift. They will inspect the plant for anything that my be broken and report issues to the Operator. They will start up individual machines and ensure running properly, as well as fuel the equipment and grease the plant. Inspections of machines and processes throughout the day are required to ensure all equipment is working. They will halt the process if a crusher fills up and manually shovel out the material. They must follow and adhere to MSHA rules and regulations and wear proper PPE at all times: including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, and gloves to ensure safe operations. They will perform other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience with manual work and general mechanical skills are preferred. Must possess a valid Drivers License and be able to perform job functions in a safe and responsible manner. Knowledge of and ability to use handheld tools is a must. Regular attendance is required. Must complete drug screening and background check.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
