Duties and Responsibilities

Ribway is currently initiating a search for a Survey Department Manager to join our growing Transportation and Infrastructure Team. This candidate shall work alongside engineers and planners to support ongoing survey demands and perform the following:

• Assist in growing the survey business including development of strategies, preparation of proposals, client visits, and pursuit of leads.
• Provides technical expertise and leadership for surveying services for civil, transportation, and buried infrastructure projects in the public and private sector.
• Make recommendations on project staffing.
• Represent projects and the firm at meetings and conferences.
• Plan, organize and supervise all survey related activities.
• Supervise and review analysis for difficult/complex boundary surveys and preparation of associated plats and boundary descriptions.
• Supervise and review advanced calculations involving field survey data.
• Supervise the preparation of road right-of-way plans and conduct QA/QC on said plans.
• Supervise and review survey reports and property legal descriptions.
• Prepare scopes of work and estimates for survey projects.
• Work with survey staff to perform professional review of project deliverables.
• Develop project quality control and quality assurance processes.
• Assure that surveying services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control scheduling, cost control, quality control and project objectives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and sub-consultants.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’ Degree in Arts/Science and 12 years related experience or Associate’s Degree and 15 years of related experience.
• Professional Land Surveyor License, Ohio (multiple states a plus)
• Must have above average verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
• General geospatial technical knowledge to speak to clients about aerial and ground data acquisition, lidar, imagery, derivative products, GIS, and geo-enabled information systems.
• 5 years of task and project management experience.
• Progressive background in field survey and Right of Way and/or Land Survey Plat Development.
• Experience in the design of Right of Way plans and/or Land Survey Plats. This includes being knowledgeable in the use of MicroStation/InRoads and/or Autodesk Civil3D.
• Experience hiring and supervising survey crews and/or CAD technicians.
• Experience with Trimble GPS, Total Stations, and digital levels.
• Must be able to work with mathematical concepts appropriate for surveying (survey data reduction including level data, traverse data, and GNSS data).
• Must be able to travel as required depending upon project-specific requirements.

Salary/Compensation

· Full Time - $100,000 to $140,000 per year with bonuses.
