Riam Recruiting is Hiring a Therapeutic Senior or Staff Physicist Near Sioux Falls, SD

Riam Recruiting has the privilege and honor of partnering with a well-known, and established health systems in the United States. They are a large, faith-based nonprofit organization based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with over 45,000 employees. So far, Riam Recruiting placed their Director of Radiation Oncology Physics and Senior Physicist. We recently placed another Senior Physicist who joined the team in November 2023. They are seeking one additional permanent Physicist to join their team. This can be a senior or staff physicist who is permanently full-time. They are also considering resident candidates. 

The position will share duties with the two Physicists and Director. The department has four radiation oncologists and four dosimetrists. Certification in radiation oncology physics is preferred; however, consideration will be given to new grads and non-certified physicists who are board-eligible. This position will be involved in all aspects of modern image-guided external beam photon therapy and HDR brachytherapy. HDR experience and AMP status on a RAM license is preferred. Prior Aria/Eclipse experience is preferred.

The department equipment consists of a TrueBeam STX and a TomoTherapy Hi-Art with a third TrueBeam being installed. Department software includes Aria/Eclipse 16.1 in a Citrix environment with all new FAS/GPU's, RapidArc, RapidPlan and MCO. Portal Dosimetry is used for routine IMRT QA. RadCalc, Velocity along with ClearCheck, AutoContour and EZFluence from Radformation are used. A GE Optima CT scanner is used for simulations. A Varian GammaMed Plus iX HDR unit is used to support the gyn brachytherapy practice. QA equipment is primarily Sun Nuclear with SunCHECK/DoseCHECK software with 3DS and 1DS tanks, IC Profiler and DQA3.

There is also flexibility with the schedule, and they currently offer 33 days of PTO. The pay will be around $210k-$260k for board-certified candidates, and they are currently offering up to 30k sign-on with additional for relocation.

Current Technology:

TrueBeam: 30-40 patients. SBRT/SRS in a day:1-5

Tomotherapy: 20-25 patients

Oncor: 1-3 patients

HDR (Varian Gammed IX Plus): 1-2 cases per month

IORT: 1 case per month

4 Linear Accelerators

Qualifications:

-Master's degree in Physics, Medical Physics, Biophysics, or Radiological Physics is required.
-3 years of experience working in a radiation oncology department responsible for equipment testing and quality control/quality assurance preferred.
-Board certification is required. However, board-eligible and newly finished residents will have five years to be certified.
