Apparel Design Operations Coordinator

Rhoback is looking for a proactive, team oriented, organized Design Operations Coordinator to join the product team with a primary focus on supporting the Senior Designers throughout the seasonal design process. The ideal candidate for this position is excited and passionate about apparel, especially men’s and women’s activewear. This person is highly organized, works effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment, and is eager to learn and grow in this industry by contributing however possible with a no task too small mentality.

This position will report to Rhoback’s Apparel Design Manager and will be located in person at Rhoback’s Charlottesville, VA headquarters. Individual should be ready and energized to keep up with Rhoback’s growth trajectory in the activewear market.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with Senior Designers and Production team to create and maintain tech packs with product details (Color, Trim, Specs, Surface Design, etc) throughout the season leading up to pass-off to factory, making edits as needed.
  • Working with Senior Designers to create and maintain artwork specs for print library.
  • Data entry into PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) System.
  • Creating and maintaining seasonal line sheets and lookbooks for internal use, wholesale partners, and for custom corporate orders.
  • Partner with Merchandising team to identify and apply carry forward products to future seasonal assortments and pass-offs.
  • Partner with Merchandising team to keep track of pass-offs for Core product reordering.
  • Take notes in meetings to distribute to the greater team.
  • Consistently keep an eye on the industry, identifying trends and competitor data in the men’s and women’s activewear, golf and lifestyle apparel sector.
  • Support Senior Designers by sourcing seasonal inspiration, contributing to conceptual discussions and bringing new ideas for products and surface design to the table.
  • Coordinate with Developers and Designers to manage product trim library.
  • Gain deep understanding of the Rhoback brand, vision, sales performance by product, color palette, and Rhoback customer to be able to better contribute to future products and overall growth and success of the brand.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent (ideally in Apparel Design, Merchandising, Graphic Design, or similar)
  • Experience or coursework working in apparel design or development, graphic design, retail, or with designers in some capacity recommended.
  • Proficient with Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator, XD, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, particularly Powerpoint and some Excel to prepare Tech Packs, Spec Sheets and PO’s
  • Experience working with apparel and fabric recommended.
  • Experience working with Pantone colors (ideally Pantone TCX books), with an extremely sensitive and thoughtful eye for color recommended.
  • Working knowledge of PLM software recommended.
  • Highly Organized with exceptional attention to detail - especially with emails, checklists with manufacturers, and fabric/trim libraries.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, video call and email).
  • Ability to work with domestic and overseas vendors in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Ability to think critically to solve complex problems.
  • Must have a creative mind and be willing to think outside the box.
  • Capable of executing tasks without the need for oversight
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically to trade shows and factories as needed.
  • Willingness to be a team player and take on ad hoc tasks in exciting fast growth environment.
  • Must be a team player with a no-task-too-small attitude.
