About The Role 

This role has responsibility for design, development and installation activities for roof rack systems and accessories. The role must also support and collaborate with all other departments within the business. 

Responsibilities 

• Development of roof rack components and accessories in accordance with Rhino-Rack design and development processes.
• Manage resources and budgets for assigned engineering, and testing activities.
• Complete test fitments, design failure testing and validation exercises to ensure products meet regulatory, performance and quality specifications.
• Manage project specific compliance documentation, technical drawings, BOMs, work instructions and fitting instructions.
• Provide guidance and support to product development/category leader
• Work collaboratively with all members of the global Engineering & Design team.
• Co-ordinate manufacturing trials and production sign off.
• Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain on product manufacturability.
• Lead DFM, DFQ projects in collaboration with Operations, Sales and Marketing.
• Lead continuous improvement projects throughout the business.
• Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to with an emphasis on internal controls and safe work place.
• Occasional travel for engineering product development and promotional work, both interstate and overseas.

Requirements

Required Degree: 

• Bachelor’s degree in the field of Mechanical, Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineering (essential).

Required Experience:

• 3-5 years experience, preferrable designing and testing parts for anything mechanical
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 3D Modelling (i.e. Solidworks), FEA, Microsoft Project, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and hands on approach to work.
• Excellent planning and time management skills.
• A good understanding of part design using forming, moulding and casting.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
