Job Description

We have an immediate need for a full-time medical assistant/scribe to join our team. The MA-scribe will need to be a self-motivated multi-tasker, and a quick learner who can handle a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be energetic with the versatility to multi-task since they will be involved with many aspects of the daily operations of the practice. Being detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills is also paramount.

Job responsibilities

  • Accompany provider(s) into the patient examination room to accurately and efficiently document the encounter.
  • Exhibit proficiency in medical terminology and billing & coding knowledge in all documentation.
  • Document the time and reasoning for patient orders including lab tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Document any procedures performed by the provider(s).
  • Make and receive phone calls on behalf of the provider(s).
  • Inform provider(s) when diagnostic studies are completed, prepare for review, and document in EMR.
  • Reconcile Medications, perform vitals, maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms.
  • Multi-task efficiently and effectively as required.
  • Work under pressure, within time constraints. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
  • Exhibit excellent listening skills.
  • Concentrate on the needs of the provider(s) throughout the entire shift.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements/Preferences

  • Typing Skills – must be able to type accurately at 45 wpm
  • Computer Competency – skilled at operating computers and troubleshooting when necessary
  • Ability to work in a progressive, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to problem solve in stressful situations pertaining to patient care
  • Experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
  • 1 year or more commitment required.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Maintain a professional appearance (uniform as specified) and conduct at all times.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the provider(s), staff, and management.
  • Being a positive, helpful point of contact for our patients
  • Check insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits.
  • Scanning of charts and medical documents
  • Insurance Prior Authorization work

General Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sophomore level in college (or higher).
  • Degrees in the Sciences and Pre-health track preferred
  • GPA 3.5 or above.
  • Medical industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC, Practice Fusion, and/or Allscripts

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for long periods of time, up to 100% of shift (8 hours).
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Constant typing and data entry with real-time auditory discrimination from dictation.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
