The Audit Manager, Global Audit is a lead role that manages global audit projects including process audits, special projects, integrated audits, SOX testing, financial audits, external audit assistance, and ongoing audit functions. Designs, develops and executes audit procedures; reviews, evaluates and reports audit results; recommends process control improvements; and maintains audit quality.


Responsibilities

  • Acts as lead auditor and/or manager on process audits, client audits, integrated audits, SOX testing, special projects, and ongoing audit functions. Reviews functions, activities and client relations to recommend nature, scope, direction and thrust of the proposed audit or project. Designs audit procedures to assess controls and meet audit objectives. Recommends the staffing required to effectively complete the audit or project. Determines appropriate use of sampling tools to accomplish audit procedures. Obtains, analyzes and appraises supporting data as a basis for an informed objective audit conclusion and recommendation.
  • Directs, counsels, trains, and reviews audit staff as audit lead, and reviews audit work for completeness. Prepares working papers to an acceptable standard, documents audit procedures and conclusions. Ensures compliance with professional audit standards. Follows up issues identified through audit work to ensure they are addressed by timely management action.
  • Acts as liaison between internal management, external audit clients, co-sourced auditors, and business associates, including:
  • Contacts external clients, internal management, and/or co-sourced auditors to discuss and agree on audit objectives, scope, and timing of audits or projects;
  • Coordinates audit resources, procedures, and requirements necessary to effectively complete the audit in a timely manner;
  • Makes oral and written presentations to all levels of management during and at the conclusion of audits;
  • Prepares formal timely reports to internal and external company executives summarizing audit objectives, scope, findings, conclusions, and management response;
  • Evaluates and submits audit conclusions to the Audit Director or Audit SVP.
  • When acting as manager of other auditors, leads by example through active participation and coordinates audit activities including:
  • Provides expertise to audit staff regarding departmental audit procedures and audit tools;
  • Directs and motivates audit staff to ensure timely completion of audits;
  • Evaluates audit procedures, work paper documentation and audit conclusion for completeness;
  • Recommends changes to audit procedures to enhance efficiency and respond to change.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of other audit tasks and functions, including but not limited to annual audit planning, continuous auditing activities, regular audit progress reporting, SOX testing, quality assurance plans and activities, and maintenance and upgrade of audit tools and methods.
Requirements

Education and Experience

Required: Academic qualification (e.g. BS/BA) in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience

CPA, CIA, CISA or equivalent certification(s)

8 years internal or external audit or equivalent experience

Preferred: FLMI, MBA or Masters in Accounting

Prior experience in a public accounting firm

Prior leadership position in reinsurance or insurance audit experience

Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 15% ).
  • Basic Word, intermediate Excel, and Access skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting.
  • Ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Ability to coordinate and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Complex investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions.
  • Ability to liaise with individuals/clients across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines, and those in senior management positions.
  • Change management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects.
  • Intermediate project management skills. Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility and understanding.
  • Intermediate interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to lead projects and mentor others.
  • Intermediate ability to develop new procedures, methods and direct workflow.

Preferred:

  • Language skills in addition to English.
  • Experience with ACL, SQL/Query skills, BWise and PWC Teammate.
