RFK Community Alliance has an exciting opportunity for a High School Math Teacher in Lancaster, MA!

Who we seek:
The Don Watson Academy at RFK Community Alliance is a state-approved special education day school that serves students 8-18 years of age with social emotional disabilities. The Math Teacher contributes to the application of functional and academic education as a key member of the educational team within a therapeutic milieu. The Math Teacher will develop and oversee progress on content and skill-based goals and evaluate and articulate progress collaboratively with the team according to treatment planning and students’ Individualized Education Programs.

Who you are:
The Math Teacher is vital in the creation of a differentiated curriculum, instruction of content, and, most importantly, supporting students’ ability to access the academic program. You will also implement grade-level curricula to meet academic standards based on the Mass. Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Curriculum. Requires ability to recognize the unique qualities of each student and incorporate them into appropriate lessons and/or projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a classroom that meets the students’ needs for safety, educational growth, and social/emotional development.
  • Evaluates students’ specific educational needs in the area of Mathematics and develops educational plans and programs to meet those needs.
  • Produces an educational assessment in the area of Mathematics on each student.
  • Assist in development of Individual Education Program goals with Lead Teacher for the area of Mathematics, as needed.
  • Provide classroom instruction necessary in order to help each student meet any Mathematics goals established in their Individualized Education Program as well as curriculum goals for RFK Community Alliance and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Participate in TEAM, Treatment Team, and Medication Review Meetings that involve any of their classroom students, as needed.
  • Follow and actively participate in the implementation of the Behavior Management System.
  • Supervise and develop a team atmosphere with the teacher’s assistant
  • Attend and actively participate in Staff meetings and Professional Development Days.
  • Actively participate in teacher team meeting and implement goals of the team.
  • Act as a positive adult role model with students and a positive team member with all RFK staff and outside collaterals.
  • Assumes other responsibilities necessary to ensure program safety and continuity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • MA teaching certification in Mathematics or Moderate Disabilities
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license

Shift

  • 40 hours per week: Monday – Friday, days; 12-month benefited position

$2,500 Sign-On Incentive!
This position is eligible for the RFK Community Alliance Sign-On Incentive in the amount of $2,500 in your first year of employment. You will receive $500 after 3 months; $500 after 6 months; $1,500 after 12 months.
