RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Electronic Design Engineer – Power Electronics

The following work will be focused on the power electronics product line: 3-phase inverters for electric motor control, DC/DC converters, battery management systems, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create and analyzes technical requirements to determine the best technical solution.
• Execute microprocessor-based embedded electronic designs
• Adapt electronic circuitry to vehicle and/or fixed equipment applications
• Execute detailed worst-case analog and digital circuit analysis, simulation, integration and verification
• Compile necessary information to document the design solution.
• Create test or analysis plan for on-site product verification and validation
• Provide on-site technical support to manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations

Requirements:

• Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program
• Senior level position requiring 5-15 years’ experience or education in the following areas:
  • Electronic circuit design.
  • Technical comprehension of microprocessor-based embedded electronic, software, and mechanical packaging designs and requirements.
  • Technical comprehension of testing, manufacturing, quality control, and marketing requirements.
  • Adapting electronic circuitry to vehicle and/or fixed equipment applications.
  • Performing complex engineering work requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks.
  • Making decisions on electronic design circuit architecture, part selection, and potential alternative approaches.
  • Directing the work of engineers, students, or technicians.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English).

Desired Attributes

• M.S. or PH.D in with specialization in Power Electronics
• Experience designing inverters and dc/dc converters for 12V, 24V, 48V non-isolated electrical systems
• Experience designing inverters and dc/dc converters in isolated electrical systems (up to 800Vdc)
• Experience with designing battery management system electronics (control board, cell monitoring board)
• Experience in product design from concept to production.
• Experience with designing to harsh environmental specifications.
• System knowledge of hybrid and/or electric vehicles.
• Experience with MathCAD
• Experience with electronic circuit simulation tools
• Experience with Siemens/Mentor Graphics or other schematic capture tools
• Experience with microcontroller and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based designs
• Experience in leading the electronic design function within a larger project team

Pay Range: $80,000-$150,000 – Commensurate with experience
