Job Title:Front-End Web Developer (Design System Specialist)

Job Description:We are looking for a skilled Front-End Engineer with expertise in design systems to collaborate with our product designer and engineering team in building a new design system for our SAAS product. The successful candidate will be responsible for coding, documenting, and implementing the design system across our platform. This role requires a deep understanding of front-end development principles, proficiency in modern web technologies, and the ability to work closely with both designers and engineers to ensure the successful integration of the design system. You will be building the front-end component library used by all other developers as well as creating customer facing UI used by hundreds of customers on a daily basis. As a member of the engineering team you will be collaborating with design, product management, and the C-suite at the highest levels to make it easy for the engineering team to implement custom components. You'll also participate in feature development and build UI with the design team and back-end engineers to achieve beautiful web experiences for our users.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the product designer to establish the design system’s visual language, components, and patterns.
• Develop front-end code for the design system, ensuring high quality, performance, and accessibility.
• Document the design system, including usage guidelines, code standards, and best practices.
• Work closely with other engineers to integrate the design system into their workflow and ensure consistent implementation across the platform.
• Continuously iterate on the design system based on feedback, user research, and evolving business needs.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to design systems, front-end development, and user experience.
• Collaborate with the design team and engineering team to negotiate the best combination of "good/fast/cheap" on various projects and high level UI decisions with design and engineering stake holders.
• Navigate a path from modified React MUI components to a more customized and homogeneous system over time
• Collaborate with experienced front-end developers and support the engineering team as a whole in developing UI that meets expectations of the design team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
• 4 years of experience as a Front-End Web Developer, with a focus on building design systems
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React
• Experience working with Figma
• Strong understanding of responsive web design principles and cross-browser compatibility
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for creating intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces
• Previous experience in SAAS, product development, or startups is a plus
