Our primary location is a 159,000 square foot / 13-acre Fabrication and Coating Facility. Our services include Civil Engineering, Equipment Installation and Maintenance, Structural Erection, Electrical & Instrumentation Installation, Steel Fabrication, and Industrial Coatings. The Ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, be comfortable multi-tasking, have experience and demonstrate proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Plan Swift (or similar), Blue Beam (or similar). This position will require the individual to possess solid verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented and highly organized. The desired candidate will work with the preconstruction team in continuing to establish and foster positive long-term relationships with our clients and construction partners. This position is 100% on site working with the preconstruction team to develop accurate and detailed project estimates, budgets, scopes of work as well as coordinate various tasks to include but not limited to the following. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST HAVE A BACKGROUND IN CONSTRUCTION WORKING WITH STRUCTURAL STEEL .
Responsibilities:
Produce complete, accurate, detailed steel bid packages.
Analyze blueprints and documentation to make estimates for time.
Build strong customer and vendor relationships throughout jobs and various communications
Review and assist in negotiations of contracts.
Consult with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and closeout procedures.
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
Computes cost by analyzing shop labor, detailing labor and material requirements
Check fabrication and field drawings for compatibility with contract drawings
Ensure timely completion of estimates to meet demanding bid schedules
Assists project team with pricing issues on major project revisions
- Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for construction projects
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Analyze project costs and develop detailed cost breakdowns
- Utilize construction estimating software, such as HeavyBid, to create comprehensive estimates
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing as needed
- Provide support during the bid process, including attending pre-bid meetings and site visits
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and related documentation
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices
- Proficiency in using estimating software, such as HeavyBid or similar programs
- Familiarity with project management tools, such as Bluebeam or similar software
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
