JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President Operations provides leadership and direction to all Operations for both an Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) and a National Wholesale Cloud Communications provider. Areas of responsibility include, Voice Core Engineering, IP Engineering, Outside Plant Engineering, Central Office integrity, ILEC Field Operations, and IT. This position acts as the liaison to vendors and carriers and drives vendor/carrier performance and accountability. The position is responsible for on time, on budget delivery of all projects. The position drives a high performance and accountable culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains 100% uptime culture.
  • Assists in plotting the technology vision of the company.
  • Oversees all operations activities, managers, and staff.
  • Manages and develops staff best practices in the following areas: people management, project management, accountability, change management and leadership.
  • Manages constant improvement of all processes/personnel/systems and implements scalable processes to maximize staff and company efficiencies.
  • Implements performance metrics to ensure high levels of reliability and efficiency.
  • Acts as a resource and subject matter expert to resolve complex operational and business issues.
  • Responsible for Department P & L.
  • Ensures technology and data are kept secure and current.
  • Drives automation and process improvements.
  • On time, on budget department project completion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Engineering is required; Masters degree in Business Administration, Technology Management or Engineering is preferred.
  • Project Management and/or Six Sigma/Lean certification is preferred.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in Telecommunications technical leadership positions is required.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience managing technology integration projects is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas is preferred:

  • FCC regulatory changes and challenges.

  • P&L responsibility
  • Strategic Plan development
  • Technology roadmap development and execution
