This position develops annual product plans and provides technical product support to the organization, dealers, and customers. The duties range in scope from gathering Voice of Customer (VOC) information as a basis for product decisions leading to the creation of sales training materials to support the attainment of profitable market share as defined by the organization. This position requires interaction with customers at all levels, domestic and/or international dealers and internal functions of sales, application engineering, contract administration, engineering, finance, purchasing and operations. Additionally, this position will determine pricing levels to attain market competitiveness while maintaining the required profit levels of each product. Relies on communications and understanding of the market and the customer base as well as internal systems to perform the job functions with minimal supervision.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual product plans and collaborates on marketing communication strategies.
  • Work with sales on promotional programs.
  • Partners with third party vendors to coordinate new product development.
  • Review and resolve technical product issues with Customer Service.
  • Manage product pricing and profitability modifying product and/or reducing cost to increase value.
  • Recommends and manages new product introductions.
  • Create and maintain sales training materials with the latest features and options.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary product teams.
  • Develop future product strategy by guiding product teams through the stage gate development process.
  • Drive product enhancements through the fast-track stage gate process and into organization infrastructure.
  • Gather and communicate information on competitors in field; attend trade shows to learn about the competition.
  • Support regional sales technicians through training to make them more self-sufficient.
  • Evaluate CR’s (special requested options/designs) to determine which ones should be quoted and at what price and which become a standard offering, drive through stage gate process as appropriate.
  • Ensure company meets margin goals on orders; work with controller to understand components of cost and ways to improve.
  • Drive product configuration support on product structure / bill of material issues. Support corporate purchasing / alliance initiatives.
  • Direct activities of product specialists in support of product management goals. Ensure pricing and cost data is available and consistent with pricing guidelines.
  • Gather and maintain configuration support information, i.e., dimensional characteristics, weights, etc., and ensure data is available to external customers.
  • Recommend and manage product line rationalization and evolution. Continuously improve product line related processes.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Engineering and 3 years of experience in product management and/or sales
