Resurrection Christian School is Hiring a Preschool Substitute Teacher 2024-25 School Year Near Loveland, CO

Description

The Preschool Substitute Teacher is responsible to assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing learning experiences for children (normally up to 5 years of age) in activities designed to promote social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth in a safe and healthy learning environment.

ABOUT RCS:

 Resurrection Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian college-preparatory school located in Loveland, Colorado. Founded in 1998 by Rez.Church, Resurrection Christian School serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. RCS is the largest Christian school in Northern Colorado, serving nearly 900 families from 19 communities over a 25-mile radius. School enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year Pre-K through 12th is approximately 1,400 students. RCS is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); AdvancED. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the lead teacher in teaching children basic facts such as colors, letters, numbers and shapes.

• Assist the lead teacher in arranging different centers and groups for children to rotate through during the day.

• Enforce excellent classroom management so that students stay on-task and focused during the day.

• Conduct story time and circle time for students.

• Work with lead teacher to help students who need extra levels of support and focus on their inclusion in the classroom.

• Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order. 

• Supervise the behavior and well-being of students. 

• Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social and emotional development, and physical health in order to provide assistance to the lead teacher.

• Conduct activities of games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling and assist with field trips.

• Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all policies, procedures and handbooks of RCS.

• Maintain professional and effective relationships with all RCS staff, board members, and families.

• Effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.

SKILLS: 

• Skilled at oral and written communication.

• Skilled at basic math.

• Skilled at personal computer and keyboarding. 

• Skilled at customer service including attentive and active listening with all staff, students, parent/guardians and community members.

• Skilled at critical thinking and problem solving.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by the Colorado Board of Education and ACSI Practices in Christian Schools.

• Knowledge of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other department related software packages.

ABILITIES:

• Able to recognize child abuse and child neglect signs and symptoms.

• Able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

• Able to manage multiple priorities and multi-task with frequent interruptions.

• Able to diffuse and manage stressful situations.

• Able to work in a team environment and works effectively with other departments to accomplish goals. 

• Able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in early childhood education preferred. Working knowledge of the subject matter assigned, classroom management, best practices and strategies, as well as the understanding of diverse student learning styles and needs is required. Hold or able to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications are a plus. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Sheets and Google Documents are desired.

Must have excellent planning skills, be highly organized and detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet benchmarks and goals in a timely fashion. Strong interpersonal, organizational, facilitation and management skills are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Preschool Substitute Teacher position requires intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, bending kneeling, stooping, crouching and lifting up to 40lbs on occasion. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
