Description

The Head Coach position is responsible for the development of the athletic program by teaching the fundamentals and advanced skills of the particular sport while following the Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) guidelines. Coordinate assistant coaches and volunteers with practices, sporting events and administrative duties.

ABOUT RCS:

Resurrection Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian college-preparatory school located in Loveland, Colorado. Founded in 1998 by Rez.Church, Resurrection Christian School serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. RCS is the largest Christian school in Northern Colorado, serving nearly 900 families from 19 communities over a 25-mile radius. School enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year is approximately 1,400 students. RCS is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); AdvancED.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise, organize and lead practice sessions to best develop sport skills and sportsmanship with the student athletes.

• Supervise student athletes prior to, during, and after all sanctioned sporting events to ensure student safety.

• Supervise assistant coaches and volunteer coaches.

• Attend and monitor all practices and sporting events.

• Communicate to the athletes and parents/guardians the expectations involving the sport; practice schedule and games, academic performance, respect, commitment, dedication and sportsmanship.

• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.

• Follow all CHSAA rules. Follow RCS’ student athlete guidelines.

• Coordinate and communicate with the Director of Athletics regarding practice schedules, equipment needs, transportation needs, etc.

• Communicate with the Director of Athletics any disciplinary problems, safety concerns, and student injuries.

• Work with the RCS Athletic Trainer on student injuries and return to practice and play schedule.

• Demonstrate fairness and consistency in all decisions and judgments related to the student athlete’s participation and involvement.

• Attend mandatory meetings, trainings, clinics and conferences as needed.

• Adhere to the building use and field access guidelines.

• When necessary, assist in the transportation of student athletes by driving a RCS bus.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of CHSAA’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of athletic management and Title IX.

• Knowledge of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other department related software packages.

• Knowledge of sports and athletic equipment use, storage, maintenance and best practices.

ABILITIES:

• Able to recognize child abuse and child neglect signs and symptoms.

• Able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

• Able to travel to athletic contest whether at home or away.

• Able to host athletic events during evenings, weekends and long hours during busy athletic seasons.

• Able to manage multiple priorities and multi-task with frequent interruptions.

• Able to diffuse and manage stressful situations.

• Able to work in a team environment as well as collaboratively with others at the school, competitive teams and the community at large.

Stipend Range: $1225-$1598

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous coaching experience in the dedicated sport is strongly preferred. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are a plus. The Head Coach must maintain a good standing with Colorado High School Athletic Association. This individual must have a current or able to obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Sheets and Google Documents and a database software program preferred.

Must have a cheerful, positive, and outgoing personality. As well, have excellent planning skills, be highly organized and detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities. Be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet goals in a timely fashion. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Head Coach must be able to work in an office and outdoor environment with some exposure to extreme temperatures and a variety of weather conditions. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able stoop, kneel, bend, reach and pick up or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
