Reston Association is Hiring a Design Review Meeting Administrator Near Reston, VA

Purpose: Responsible for providing administrative support to residential and non-residential members, and to the Design Review Board to help in the understanding and compliance of the Association’s covenants, bylaws, procedures, design guidelines, and standards. General guidance and direction is provided by the Community Standards Manager/DRB Secretary, or the Department Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides administrative support to the Design Review Board; manages meeting coordination, and acts as liaison between the Board and applicants. Leads panel meetings, and Full DRB meetings as needed in the absence of the Community Standards Manager/DRB Secretary.

2. Coordinates DRB meeting planning with Covenants Advisors; reviews and edits draft consultation decisions; reviews and edits summaries for panel review; attends meetings; acts as liaison between property owners, architects, contractors, staff and the DRB on all matters involving design covenants and their administration; writes, reviews, edits, and approves final draft of DRB minutes.

3. Evaluates applications for design review to determine completeness, verify signatures, and confirm notification process, as applicable; performs staff review, and/or schedules application to consultation or panel review as appropriate; writes draft consultation decisions and/or summaries for panel review; and photographs properties scheduled for design review.

4. Inspects reported covenants violations to determine validity and appropriate action for processing complaint; photographs, evaluates and schedules properties for Covenants Committee review; re-inspects properties for previously identified violations and determines appropriate follow-up action.

5. Inspects properties and monitors redevelopment and new construction to ensure compliance with Association covenants and design standards and provides documentation for POAA (Virginia Property Owner's Association Act of 1989) disclosure packets or estoppel requests; provides recommendations and responds to complaints.

6. Maintains accurate records of all verbal and written communication pertaining to properties, including data entry.

7. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience – B.A./B.S. or Associate degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in technical writing, community association management, or property management is desirable.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual must have keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and database applications.

Other Skills and Abilities - Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance, and abide by established policies and procedures. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills; organizational skills; the ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; ability to work effectively in a team environment; and ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and work independent of direct supervision. Requires knowledge of architectural components, the ability to read and understand site plans, and an understanding of design principles. Must be detail-oriented and have excellent customer service and technical writing skills. Must be available to attend evening meetings.

Other Qualifications - Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,500.00 - $75,105.00 per year
