Job Description
A Neurology and Sleep Medicine clinic has an immediate opening for an organized and reliable Front Office Medical Specialist in our Sugar Land office. The successful candidate will support clinic operations in delivering patient care. We are looking for a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working independently and directly with people.
Location: Sugar Land/Medical Center, TX.
Schedule: 8AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities and Duties
The Front Office Medical Specialist will be responsible for:
General purpose of job: Serves patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; and maintaining records and accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Checking out patients for clinic appointments.
· Checking patient Demographics making sure it’s current and accurate (Address, DOB, Phone, Insurance, etc.)
· Collecting patient’s copay/deductible/balances prior to appointment.
· Scanning in DL and Insurance cards.
· Taking patient pictures and uploading them to the chart.
· Checking insurance 24-48 hours prior to sleep study appointment, sure it’s been verified and insurance is active.
· Verbally confirming Sleep study appointments 48 hours (2 business days) prior to sleep appointment date.
· Submitting Prior authorizations request and making sure we get authorization back before sleep study appointment.
· Rescheduling Sleep studies PRN
· Scheduling appointments, F/u, DME setups, and Sleep studies.
· Sending Daily Sleep Study Checklist.
· Discuss patient benefits, responsibilities, and cancellation policy for patient appointments and procedures.
· Reviewing sleep study insurrections with all sleep study appointments.
· Answering multiple phone lines while multi-tasking
· Scheduling/ Filling in the sleep lab when there is a last-minute cancelation.
· Rescheduling Office visits when the schedule needs to be adjusted.
· Checking voice messages daily
· Sleep Study Tally sheet.
· Sending AMD messages to the provider when a sleep study is completed
· Daily activity report

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office with typing speed of 50wpm
· Experience with AdvancedMD or other EHR software is a plus.
Education/Licensure/Certifications
· High School Diploma required. Associates preferred.
· 2 years of Medical Administrative/Office Experience.
· Medical Office experience preferred.
·Bi-lingual: Spanish.
·HIPAA certification and BLS training preferred.
