Resource Connections of Oregon is Hiring an ASSESSOR Near Salem, OR

You like people and can build rapport quickly. You are a clear communicator who is skilled at drawing stories and information out of others. You are open to discussing your professional judgement to ensure you get things correct and are willing to stand up for what you know is right.

Key tasks of the Assessor:

  • Completes all assessments using the state’s chosen tool,
  • Completes face-to-face observations as part of the assessment process,
  • Works with Personal Agents and Lead Personal Agents to ensure all assessments are completed timely,
  • Documents all work in agency and state databases, and
  • Is responsible for following the complaint process for all complaints related to assessments.

What does the job look like?

  • Full-time
  • Monday to Friday day shifts, with occasional evenings or weekends
  • Office hours 8am-4:30pm
    • 80% or more of the work should take place in, or about, the office.
    • Much of the work will be conducted within an office setting, including typical office noise, activity and light levels.
    • Office space is typically shared with at least one coworker.
  • Regular travel to other community settings will be required.
  • Exposure to weather conditions throughout all four seasons.
  • Will need to transport laptop and other work-related materials.

We are looking for someone with these skills and qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field.

-OR-

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field and at least one (1) year of human services related experience.

-OR-

  • An associate’s degree in behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field and two (2) years of human services related experience.

-OR-

  • Three (3) years of human services related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Commitment to self-determination and personalized support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the intellectual/developmental disabilities field and of family dynamics.
  • Able to maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
  • Able to develop trust and rapport through in-person meetings and contacts with customers, staff and stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, families, service providers and the general public.
  • Able to remain calm when clients become anxious or experience challenging behavior.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
  • Able and willing to work evening or weekend hours, as needed.
  • Able to work under stress and able to multitask.
  • Able to manage time independently and work without direct supervision.
  • Able to pass a Criminal History Check, meeting the State’s requirements.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintenance of a good driving record.
    • Must be able to frequently drive personal vehicle for extensive local and in-state travel, as well as occasional out of state travel.
  • Able to lift 10 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) as plus!
  • Experience completing assessments.
  • Working knowledge and ability to perform basic word processing tasks.
