JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide training to enhance Operator/Technician safety consciousness/practices, improve the consistency of processing execution among Operators/Technicians, and increase the overall productivity of the ResinTech Production teams; refine existing Production documentation; and any other training associated services/support needed for the company

Primary Responsibility

  • Conducts Manufacturing Operations onboarding of new Production employees.
  • Manages training and remedial training of Operators/Technicians as needed.
  • Creates and maintains training material including manuals, checklists, visual aids, self-assessment instruments, exams, and a certification matrix utilizing computer-based software including Power Point, Word, and Excel.
  • Performs training one on one and/or in a group setting. Training takes place in both classroom and in the field with high focus on OJT (on the job training).
  • Continuously evaluates trainees’ progress, delivers feedback (and re-training as needed) about their performance in a positive manner, and reports same to Shift Supervisors and Production Engineers.
  • Participates in qualification evaluations as a core member of review panels.
  • Partners with Shift Supervisors and Production Engineers to identify onboarding and training process improvements and makes changes as needed.
  • Maintains Batch Sheet, SOP, and MOC change acknowledgement records.
  • Audits, redlines, and updates Batch Sheets, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and P&IDs as needed.
  • Communication effectiveness at all levels.

Secondary Responsibility

  • Provides technical support for day-to-day operations activities including product transition and upset conditions.
  • Supports scheduled and unscheduled plant shutdowns and startups.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) participation such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), and other technical and safety reviews.
  • Investigation participation to resolve Health, Environment, and Safety (HES), Quality, and reliability issues.

  • Ability to communicate with trainees, strong interpersonal skills, good professional judgement, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to provide effective group and individual training through strong organizational skills and effective presentation of ideas in verbal and written form (including diagrams, Power Point, Word, and Excel).
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s Degree or higher in a science/technical degree program preferred.
  • 10 years experience at a senior-level in batch chemical processing.
  • 1 years experience as a Manufacturing Trainer.
  • Computer proficiency in Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software.
  • US Citizen.

Physical / Safety Requirements:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (corrective lenses acceptable).
  • Must be able to talk and hear sounds and recognize the difference between them, focus on one source of sound and ignore others, understand speech of another person, and speak clearly so listeners can understand. Use of radio communications and hearing protection may be required.
  • Must be able to lift between 50-100 lbs. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have physical strength, dexterity, and physical condition sufficient to perform the required task(s), including some level of repetitive motion task(s).
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, pushing, and pulling. Occasionally requires stair climbing, stooping, squatting, crouching, and contorting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Must be able to work at elevated heights.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to touch, handle, feel as well as manipulate office equipment; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, gloves, and safety shoes. Must willingly and routinely wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE.
  • Must be able to be trained in respirator use and confined space entry.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.

Work Environment

  • Business casual office environment and industrial chemical plant environment.
  • May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or corrosive chemicals, and vibration.
  • May work at heights for prolonged periods of time.
  • Duties may require varying shifts and overtime work, including nights and weekends.
  • 24 x 7 production, 12 hour shifts, every other weekend off, steady day or night shift.
