Residential Youth Services & Empowerment (RYSE), a community-based organization, seeks a Housing Navigator. The Housing Navigator is responsible for facilitating pathways to permanent housing for youth who are on the street or in the RYSE program. He/she/they fills a central role in linking youth experiencing housing instabilities to an appropriate housing plan and supporting the team in sustaining placements.
The Program Manager of Housing will further the agency’s mission of providing a continuum of support that empowers Hawaii’s street youth to move beyond homelessness. RYSE envisions a community where there is no youth homelessness.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional networking skills, problem-solving abilities, property management, and experience in housing youth and families experiencing housing insecurity. Educational requirements are a bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in social sciences, criminal justice, or related field or an associate’s degree with extensive experience with target population. Knowledge of rental market on O’ahu is required. Experience with government issued housing vouchers, coordinated entry system, and the Homeless Management Information System highly preferred.
Providing housing navigation allows for an intentional and coordinated response to ending the experience of homelessness for youth. Housing navigators working collaboratively with case managers, landlords, and housing professionals are positioned to meet the needs and support the productivity and success of unhoused individuals and families as members of the community. Such efforts help to ensure that the experience of homelessness is brief and exiting homelessness is sustainable.
