DSP- ($1000 Retention Bonus)

Residential Management Services, Inc. is seeking Direct Support Professional (DSP) who are direct care staff for individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities in the Meriden area. The DSP is an advocate for individuals served; communicating their needs, preferences, and fostering self-expression.

Duties include:

  • Teaching skills to each person served to promote quality of life.
  • Actively learning about the interests, support needs and skills of each person served through direct interaction, observation, insights of other staff team members, family members, etc.
  • Establishing positive relationships with each person served, co- workers, family members and other people who are important in the individual’s life
  • Providing assistance as appropriate to each individual in personal care and hygiene
  • Working as team member to ensure household cleanliness and safety standards are in full compliance with DDS and R.M.S. requirements
  • Correctly and accurately completing all required documentation
  • Observing and monitoring each individual during each shift to identify any changes in health status or other concerns
  • Providing safe transportation with an agency vehicle

Qualifications include:

  • Valid CT Driver’s License, good driving record and available means of transportation
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Good communication skills, able to present information in a clear manner
  • Knowledge of general computer use
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 pounds
  • Experience working with autistic individuals is a plus
