YOUR LIFE AS A GEOSPATIAL ANALYST

This analytics position with our human services nonprofit works regular business hours. Assignments in this geospatial role may include operation in a field environment through all 5 boroughs of New York City.

Get ready to jump into an exciting and fulfilling career as a Geospatial Analyst with our human services nonprofit! Each day begins by diving into the community and developing relationships with community members, elected officials, and community-based organizations that share your passion for improving health equity in the New York City area. As part of your analytics team, you assess equity in messaging and events through various media posts and collateral. Your exceptional computer and mathematical skills come into play as you develop applications and programs that gather geospatial data and work on developing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze and report key health equity needs and services rendered.

Your eye for detail and analytics skills come in handy as you create algorithms for processing spatial data to report and discover opportunities to address gaps in health equity. You also train other staff members to analyze GIS systems, reports, and data to help address local health disparities. Using your expertise, you review broad data sets and provide actionable insights to help make better business decisions. You work closely with the communications lead to analyze available deliverables data, with a focus on decreasing barriers and maximizing community uptake of services and resources provided by ReServe.

As part of cross-functional squads that include finance, field reporting, human resources, and business customers, you gather requirements from different business units, translate them into engineering problems, and explain the results to non-technical teammates. You develop and maintain inventory systems, metric reports, and data visualizations, ensuring that tracking and reporting are implemented properly. In this geospatial role, you also maintain and re-engineer existing ETLs to increase data accuracy, data stability, and pipeline performance. You go home every day knowing that you have made a real difference in improving health equity in your community, and you love utilizing your analytics skills in this Geospatial Analyst position. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or equivalent
  • 2 years of data analyst experience
  • Proficient in Excel, GIS software, and like systems
  • Ability to collaborate between business professionals, city agencies, as well as internally

We need the person in the geospatial position to have strong analytics skills and fantastic problem-solving abilities. This analyst role needs to have exceptional communication skills and a drive to build strong business relationships. We are looking for someone who is able to easily adapt as needs change. Strong organizational skills are the key to success in this spatial analyst position.
