Rescue Mission is Hiring a Youth Care Specialist Near Syracuse, NY

Youth Care Specialist/Client Care Specialist
The Rescue Mission will be opening a Runaway & Homeless Youth Shelter in Syracuse, NY that will work with the Greater Syracuse’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ ) population. We are currently seeking Youth Care Specialist to work fulltime with the clients that we will be serving. The RHY Youth Care Specialist will work first shift (6:30am – 3:00pm) and maintains a safe and supportive environment for clients, utilizing the resources of the Rescue Mission to ensure a healthy and pleasant stay and provide an environment of positive change for clients served.
Pay:
$16/hr.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops rapport with clients and provides support, encouragement, and motivation while maintaining appropriate professional employee-client boundaries at all times.
  •  Participates as a team player to provide the best possible care for every client who enters Rescue Mission facilities by assisting with intakes, monitoring facilities, giving out personal care items and bedding, and enforcing guidelines as appropriate. Does so while treating clients with respect and dignity.
  • Shares pertinent client information via documentation, participation in meetings, and on an individual basis as needed, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Supports the Rescue Mission by agreeing to work within the parameters of the Vision and Mission statements and promotes the Rescue Mission in interactions both internal and external to the Rescue Mission.
  • Supports and complies with all organizational and Program Services policies and procedures.
  • Supports and complies with the Rescue Mission’s vision, mission and core values.
  • Promotes a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
  • Regular and predictable in-person attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid NYS Driver License in compliance with company driving criteria preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in human services or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Approval by OCFS is required.
  • Pre-employment physical.
  • Two (2) personal and two (2) professional references required.
  • Experience working with the homeless, addicted and/or mentally ill populations preferred.
Available Schedules:
  • 6:30am – 3pm Monday through Friday with Saturdays & Sundays off.
  • 6:30am – 3pm Thursday through Monday with Tuesdays & Wednesdays off.
  • 6:30am – 5pm Friday through Monday with Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays off.
