Job Description

Summary/objective The Field Ops Technician position is based inside our client's automotive repair facility. Being a part of the Field Ops team is not only an accomplishment, but also a vital part of asTech’s business. asTech simply could not do what it does without the unmatched support and dedication of its Field Ops team. This team is utilized in a variety of ways. Whether it is responding at moment’s notice to a natural disaster, integrating a new business partner, or simply providing support to customers in a time of need, your experience will be purposeful and rewarding. In the occurrence of a catastrophic event, new market development, or other special business case you may be asked to deploy to the affected area of the country. The successful technician will travel to the assigned shop(s) and assist in completing diagnostics scans and calibrations to diagnose, recommend repairs for vehicles involved in collisions, as well as calibrate ADAS using the asTech® device. Essential functions:•The successful technician will travel to the assigned shop(s) and assist in completing diagnostics scans to diagnose and recommend repairs for vehicles involved in collisions using the asTech® device. • When not deployed on Field Operations the Technician will have a dual role with Remote Technician responsibilities•The Special Ops technician will also be able to train new Astech employees, perform ADAS calibrations (where applicable) and perform shop/Astech process improvements over a given deployment time.• Perform ADAS calibrations as outlined by Astech SOP’s• Train and mentor new asTech employees, on-site for process integration.• Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs on multiple makes and models• Act as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basis• Ability to quickly learn how to evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components and ADAS systems• Proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions in an effort to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technology• Responsible for test driving and/or moving customer vehicles at shop locations• Utilize understanding of the structure and practices of various types of repair facilities, body shops, insurance carriers to facilitate effective working relationships. Assist fellow technicians in performing technical evaluations.Keep team management aware of mechanical and electrical repair problems as they occur• Adhere to all company and shop policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules• Ensure compliance utilizing basic knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws• When not deployed on Field Operations the Technician will have a dual role with Remote Technician responsibilities. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Minimum Qualifications:• Be a current Astech scanning technician with at least 6 months of experience.• Willing to travel extensively to customer shop locations.• Have a Passing score in QA for the last 3 months.•Ability to train new Astech personnel within an In-shop environment• Proficient in scanning with multiple manufacturers tools.• Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspective.Preferred Qualifications:• In depth understanding of automotive industry and various manufacturer acronyms and lingo• Exposure to Astech In-shop processes.• Experience training technicians, In-person or virtually.• Proficient in performing ADAS calibrations.• Ability to work independently and in a team environmentSupervisory responsibilitiesThis role has no supervisory responsibilitiesWork environmentThe job operates in our Customer’s Repair facility and will require interaction with various Body Shop Staff. At times, the environment may be hot, cold, noisy, etc.Physical demands• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.• Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.• Requires standing stooping and kneeling for extended periods of time.• Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.Travel requiredThis position is a travel based.
