Job Summary:

The UW-Madison School of Education is uniquely interdisciplinary, with academic programs across the arts, health, and education. Reflecting these domains, the office of Professional Learning and Community Education (PLACE) programming serves a diverse range of communities, such as educators and school leaders, mental health counselors, dancers, occupational therapists, visual artists, researchers, rehabilitation professionals, and theatre practitioners.
The School of Education's office of Professional Learning and Community Education (PLACE) is seeking a skilled, organized, strategic marketer and communicator who will leverage market research insights to support PLACE program development by creating and executing marketing campaigns. The marketing specialist will develop, produce, manage, publish, and track communication content and marketing campaigns across digital (social, email marketing, and website) and print media to engage diverse audiences in order to promote programs.
PLACE facilitates engaging and impactful learning that connects the larger community with School of Education research and resources. Using the expertise of faculty, staff, and community stakeholders, PLACE develops and supports learning experiences in the arts, health, and education to enhance the quality of life in Wisconsin and beyond.

This position is a vital member of the PLACE team, which values curiosity, integrity, belonging, equity, and joy. The marketing specialist will be supervised by the Director of Programs, and will collaborate with PLACE colleagues and other School of Education staff and faculty to promote online and in-person professional learning programming.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic priorities and communication goals
- Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans and tracks analytics based on research and established strategies
- Provides project management and execution of communications campaigns, initiatives, and tactical plans. Collaborates with PLACE leadership to decide which market research questions to pursue and communicate with market research vendors as needed.
- Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities
- Creates, edits and updates program pages on PLACE?s website, updates program marketing lists and manages internal communications (e.g., newsletter)

Responsibilities:Contributes to strategy development and implements marketing projects in support of institutional or unit marketing goals.
  • 30% Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies
  • 35% Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques
  • 15% Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities
  • 20% Creates, edits and updates program pages on the PLACE website, updates program marketing lists and manages internal communications (e.g., newsletter)

Qualifications:

REQUIRED
- Three or more years of professional experience in communications or marketing.
- Professional experience developing, curating, and managing content for web, social media, and print communications.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
- Proficiency with web content management systems (e.g., WordPress), social media platforms and management tools, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
PREFERRED
- Experience supporting mission, marketing, and brand strategy across multiple communications channels and media.
- Experience marketing programs in the fields of education, health, the arts, professional learning, and/or outreach.
- Experience with design-thinking processes.
- Experience and working knowledge of style manuals (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP Stylebook).
- Experience with photo and design file management, photo editing, graphic design, print and digital production, using Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and office software (Microsoft Office, G Suite).
- Experience with marketing and customer relationship management tools and software (e.g., Hubspot, Mailchimp, Eloqua).
- Experience with project management tools and software (e.g., Asana).
- Experience or familiarity with higher education ecosystems.
- Personal or professional involvement with diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility efforts.
- Experience with any or all of the following: content strategy, digital accessibility best practices, SEO, Google Analytics.

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The anticipated salary range for this position will be $55,000 - $65,000. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced insurance plans, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund. Additional Information:
