RENO-SPARKS INDIAN COLONY is Hiring a Patient Representative Supervisor Near Reno, NV

Position Summary:

Responsible for supervising the Patient Registration function of the RSIC Health and Human Services (RSIC H&HS) to assure achievement of Clinic goals and the management of personnel involved therein.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of staff; insure the implementation of RSIC H&HS Business Office goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards subject to managerial review and approval.
  • Accountable either through direct action or subordinates for the operating efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of department work. Proposes to supervisor modifications to Patient Registration function in response to increases or decreases in business.
  • Insures that each patient receives an in-depth interview to determine eligibility for services and/or alternate resources. This function is performed either personally or through subordinates.
  • Responsible for patient interviews, insuring that all necessary documents for chart, such as birth certificate, social security card, driver license, tribal card or letter of descendancy, insurance information, and updates are assembled.
  • Accountable for the assigning of numbers to new patient charts after eligibility has been determined.
  • Responsible for the accurate maintenance of RPMS/Unix insurance, employer, and group files. Run quarterly reports to check for duplication and errors. Maintain logs for all necessary tracking information requested by Clinic Director. Responsible for accurate data entry of patient demographics, for insurance, addresses, emergency contacts, next of kin, and phone numbers. Provide a Face Sheet and Health Summary to the Medical Records Department for placement in chart after the interview is completed.
  • Attend and provide a presentation to participants at monthly prenatal classes to inform eligible Nevada Medicaid per Federal Registry and Indian Health Service guidelines about alternative resources, Medicaid, private insurance and CHS criteria. Must generate and distribute a monthly list to track status of Nevada Medicaid prenatal patient applications other insurance information, and births.
  • Insures the accurate and timely data entry of patient referrals to Contract Health Services in order to obligate available funds. Generate a list of posted obligations; fax one copy to Schurz Service Unit CHS assigned liaison and hard copy to follow via U.S. Mail service.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of an accurate and current logbook (for each entity) tracking all applications for patient compliance and eligibility determination for Nevada Check-Up, Nevada Medicaid, Medicare, and Women’s Health Connection.
  • Responsible for determining patient eligibility for Colony Orthodontic, Dental, and Optometry special programs.
  • Generation of correspondence to patients as needed for follow-up regarding applications, insurance information, and related form letters as needed. Responsible for all mail returned with no forwarding address, route to appropriate department, attempt to retrieve new demographic information, or file marked mail in the chart of patient.
  • Must educate patients of policies related to services rendered from the clinic. Explain and educate all patients of the Contract Health Services requirements for reporting services outside of facility.
  • Attend RSIC H&HS, Indian Health Service, and related meetings as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or a General Education Degree (GED). Prefer an A.A. Degree in Business, Accounting or other related field.
  • Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute, operate office equipment, such as copier, fax machine, computer and multi-line phone lines.
  • Must have working knowledge of Medical terminology and basic math skills.
  • Must have at least two years of working knowledge related to health insurance plans, i.e., Medicare, Nevada Medicaid, Women’s Health Connection, and private insurance group plans, etc.
  • At least one-year of successful supervisory experience.
  • Must have above average interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, to work in a diverse minority environment. Demonstrated ability to be patient with difficult persons.
  • Able to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Able to pass a background investigation.
  • Must have received a recent Tuberculosis skin test and/or receive one upon hire and have current CPR certification.
  • Qualified Indian preference applies.

PLEASE NOTE: Hiring preference will be given to qualified tribal members of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the HR Policy 164.905- PL101.630. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires a designated candidate to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and confirmation of professional references and certifications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $29.10 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
