Job Purpose and Objectives:
Social and Human Service Assistant aids Reno County citizens over age 60, their families and caregivers by providing information and answers to assist them in making informed decisions regarding services and benefits to meet their needs. The Social and Human Service Assistant aids citizens in obtaining benefits and social and community services. Work is achieved through provision of information, outreach, and follow-up services and making referrals for appropriate services i.e., homemaker, case management, meal delivery, etc. Social and Human Service Assistant aids in the development and delivery of information regarding resources, aging processes, and departmental work to the community through public presentations and media. Assists in developing, organizing, and conducting programs to prevent, mediate, and resolve problems relevant to issues affecting those age 60 including their families and caregivers. Stays abreast of changes regarding elderly resources and programs. Represents the department in local and statewide meetings or presentations, e.g., associations, service organizations, legislators, peers, and funding sources.

Position Requirements:
2 years of post-secondary education required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Social Work, Gerontology, Business, Counseling, or related field. Or three years of work experience with information and referral services in a related field.
Employee is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all certification requirements relative to the position.
