Director of Operations - Waterloo, IA

General Summary: The Director of Operations assumes significant responsibilities for

administrative, budgetary and program activities. This position is responsible for the day-to-day

operations in administering the programs and services of Renewed Vision CDDC as well as

providing supervision to the administrative and program personnel. The Director of Operation

serves as a member of the management team and as such, participates in organizational planning

and policy development. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and report on operational issues, opportunities, development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales.
  2. Manage and develop direct reporting staff.
  3. Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in conjunction with the executive team.
  4. Direct and oversee the preparation of budgets and analyze data in the support of effective forecasting of revenues and expenditures.
  5. Oversee and approve the preparation of payroll, journal entries, adjusting revenues and expenditures, as necessary.
  6. Review purchase requisitions, payments, invoices and claims.
  7. Manage and review account analysis and reconciliation.
  8. Verify and approve payments and monitor fiscal and legal liabilities of assigned contractual agreements and terms.
  9. Participate in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures. Analyze evaluate and develop recommendations for or changes to existing administrative and operational procedures as necessary and appropriate.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related Human Services field or four years relevant work experience.

Experience:

  • Five years of increasingly responsible administrative work experience in budgeting, fiscal control and analysis, or comparable fields, two years which in a supervisory capacity.

Knowledge of:

  • Principles of modern methods of public and business administration with special reference to organization, fiscal budget and personnel management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Principles and practices of supervision and performance evaluation.
  • Developmental Disabilities
  • Service delivery systems for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Ability to:

  • Direct administrative, fiscal, budgetary, and operational activities
  • Stay current with pertinent laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate work activities of program and administrative staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with the Advisory Committee, Rights Review Committee, staff, volunteers, donors, agency funding sources and members, in the performance of required duties.
  • Work with individuals with different interest and opinions and build effective teams.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and orally.
